Club RydeX continues giving back to the community by sponsoring various sporting organisations, primarily youth associations, so that they can continue providing activities to keep the young people of this community healthy and happy.
We directly sponsor these groups by giving money donations to allow them to continue to operate and thrive. We are proud that all of these groups come from our immediate area around Ryde.
The year achievements culminated for the Rhinos in being awarded the ARL National "Grass - roots Club of the Year" on 24th September presented at the Sydney Town Hall. The award was in recognition for Outstanding community service through fund raising for breast cancer, acknowledgement of significant volunteer contribution and the development of junior rugby league.
Club highlights this year included the Annual Benny Elias Shield which is open to all clubs in the Balmain District for mini - aged groups aged six to eight who otherwise do not participate in a final series, raising more than $8,500 for the McGrath Foundation and a local family affected by breast cancer; and the successful nomination of club stalwart John "Obie O'Brien inducted into the Men of League Hall of Fame.
The club celebrated its 50th Anniversary late last year with a function that attracted over 300 people aged from 18 - 80 plus and at the dinner a number of past and present club men and women were inducted as life members. Tournament patron, Tigers, Blues and Kangaroos legend and Holy Cross old boy, Ben Elias, was on hand to present the players with their trophies.

The 2011/2012 Cricket Season was one of the wettest seasons in memory. Many games were washed out from the beginning or incomplete because of the wet. Nevertheless, the Crusaders played some remarkable cricket when they were able to take the field. The 2011/2012 season saw the Crusaders field seven teams from under 9 through to the Seniors, in the Inner West Harbour and the Northern Districts Competition. The Under 15s were successful in winning the premiership in a rain affected, nail biting final with a winning margin of just one run. Presentation Night was held at Club Ryde X and the President’s Award recipient was Cameron Court, a member of the successful 15s team.
The Crusaders hosted twenty keen 4-6 year olds during the In2Cricket programme. These up and coming cricketers were introduced to the skills of the game in a fun environment over a 10 week program. We hope that this leads to a lifelong love of this great game.
Holy Cross Crusaders Cricket Club is always appreciative of the support offered by Club Ryde X and we look forward to continuing this association for many years to come.

Ermington United Sports & Recreation Club through its Soccer and Netball Divisions have experienced good results in the 2012 season. In Soccer we had eight of our thirteen competitive teams make it through to the semi finals with seven going through to the finals. Ermington Soccer was represented in the Grand Finals by three teams with our All Age Men 13 team going through to win the minor and major premierships. In Netball we had two of our seven competitive teams playing in the ERNA (Eastwood Ryde Netball Association) achieve minor premiers and who both also became premiers. Netball were awarded two ERNA “Most Valued Player” awards over two grades and were also awarded a “Coach of the Month” award which is judged over the whole ERNA association.
Our main social event of the year being our Barefoot Bowls day held at Club Ryde X was another success due to the friendly atmosphere and quality of the facility provided by the club. We also hosted eight semi final matches and eight final matches at our home grounds being George Kendall Riverside Park.
We were also successful at the GDSFA (Granville District Soccer Football Association) awards presentation night were two members of our club, Peter Avis and Kay Lewin took out the Laurie Ferguson 2012 Club Person of the Year Award in recognition of their exemplary service to their Club & Association.
On behalf of our club, we are very grateful to Club Ryde X for their continuous support and also for its generosity of funds which go to the running of our club.
